I am lucky to have many interests, people, and activities that are important to me. My family, education, art, sports, and work are all big parts of my life. My consistent high level of dedication and effort in all I do have led to great results, accolades and awards for me. Most importantly I have a strong sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, which drives me to undertake even more.
Nothing is more important to me than my family. I'm beyond fortunate to have my parents, sister, and the best dog in the world as my core support. They are a large part of who I've become and aspire to be. My grandparents, and lots of cousins, aunts, and uncles are also a big part of my life and a major support system for me.
Many of my family members are teachers, including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. My sister is currently studying elementary education in college. Education is not just something we go through as Serafinos, it's cultural for us. My parents have always focused on critical thinking, information literacy, and communication skills as foundational, and that has helped me excel in many areas of my education.
Of all the activities and education I'm involved in, art has become the biggest part of my life. I spend at least some of every day work on art projects for school or just exploring my inspirations and creating on my own. I love so many forms of art including painting, drawing, sculpting, and pottery. Photorealistic drawing and abstract watercolor painting have risen to the top of my favorite forms in recent years.
I've been involved in individual, school, and club sports since I was 5 years old. Tae Kwon Do was the first organized sport I did for an extended period and achieved a deputy black belt by age 10. Field Hockey and Lacrosse were also a big part of my athletic development.
But alpine skiing is the biggest part of my athletic and now early professional life. I started skiing at age 3 and alpine racing at 11. This has led me to becoming a paid race coach for some of the best alpine racers in New England, and now captain of my high school alpine race team.
I'm proud to be part one of the oldest and most highly regarded summer camps in Massachusetts. I started attending Camp Rotary eight years ago as a camper and have risen through the training ranks to become a paid staff member and counselor. I love helping other kids and spent nine weeks overnight at Camp this past summer responsible for a cabin of ten 7- to 12-year-old girls. I also led the BMX program every day, working with girls and boys ages 7 to 15 to help them perfect their bike skills on the track! I received CPR, AED, first aid, and lifeguard certifications to support my responsibilities as a counselor.
